Managing underperformance or inappropriate behaviour at work can be challenging, and the pressure is on to get it right — say the wrong thing, skip a step, or move too fast, and you could expose your business to serious risk.

If an employee hasn’t responded to feedback or a performance improvement plan, or if their behaviour was so serious that it’s fundamentally affected your trust in them, you might be considering issuing them with a warning, or dismissing them from your business altogether.

This practical seminar, hosted by Australian HR expert Patrick Deme, is for small business owners and people leaders who need to manage disciplinary issues fairly, lawfully, and with confidence. We’ll walk through what a good disciplinary process actually looks like — from raising concerns and investigating issues, to making defensible decisions and communicating outcomes clearly.

What you’ll learn:

  • What poor performance, misconduct, and serious misconduct look like

  • The role of feedback, records of discussion, and performance improvement plans

  • How to prepare for a disciplinary

  • Understanding the various steps and process required

  • Managing difficult behaviour and unexpected responses during the disciplinary

  • Formal Warnings, final Warnings, and termination (including summary dismissal)

Who should attend?

  • Business leaders

  • Managers

  • Supervisors

  • Anyone who is responsible for managing staff
